The "Hope for Today" radio programs began in the early 1950's and aired every Monday through Friday at 7:00 AM.
The program was presented on radio station KGER, 1390Khz., Long Beach, California. The speaker was The Reverend H. J. Smith, former Dean of the, "Black Hills Bible Institute", located near Newcastle, Wyoming. Then he became Director of Christ Faith Mission (Old Pisgah Home & Tabernacle), in Highland Park, a suburb of Los Angeles, California.
His message was straight-forward and simple:
JESUS SAVES - JESUS HEALS
For 35 years people all over Southern California, would set their clock-radios to that station to hear the man they called "Brother" Smith.
He brought them the Word of God, in a straight-forward, yet simple presentation that inspired them to make it through, yet, another hectic day in the city.
His voice was silenced on January 1, 1994, as he returned home to be with his beloved wife Sarah, in the presence of their Lord,
Jesus Christ.
